I did it for me. I liked it. And… I was… really… I was alive… #lovemyhat

And so as Christmas looms large in the window and my latest hat experience comes to an end, what have we learned?

It has become blindingly apparent that 99.99% of people* have no interest in what you choose to place upon your head (even if you are trying to recreate an iconic movie/TV image) and that any fears you may have about embarking upon a millinery adventure are horribly misplaced. Your most pressing concerns should be about where you will put the damn thing when you visit a restaurant or cinema and ensuring that you have an expert knowledge of wind speeds.

On the plus side, hats are cool. There is no getting away from it. When you place one upon your head it immediately brings forth a medley of emotions and changes how you feel about yourself and the world in which you inhabit.

If you’ve often thought about owning a hat… GO FOR IT! I know the temptation to buy one from a high street store because of price is strong, but (and I really can’t stress this enough) please consider saving up a little longer and visiting a dedicated hatter. Everytime I have visited Bates I have found the staff extremely knowledeable, supportive and helpful and they will be able to find the perfect hat for YOU.

So come on! Join the club and share your millinery adventures using the #lovemyhat hashtag.

You can follow my day to day adventures on Twitter or via the hashtag #lovemyhat, and if you feel inspired to purchase your very own quality head gear, visit bates-hats.com and don’t forget to tell them Heisenberg sent you.
