I’m going to tell you a story…
Two decades ago, back when the term social media referred to the act of writing ones name on the side of the railway lines, I began my digital journey. It was a truly exciting time, the web was barely out of nappies and the humble Notepad was the only HTML editor of choice. But still I managed to build many great websites.
As the power of the internet grew, e-commerce became the new buzz word and the phenomenon of online shopping exploded. During this period I helped brands such as Toys ‘R’ Us harness the potential and capture customers with carefully designed and securely constructed buying experiences.
Since then I have worked with clients from a variety of market sectors on everything from banner advertising and microsites to email marketing and fully content managed intranets. More recently I have been assisting companies with their social media strategies and providing community management and content creation.
But throughout all these 20 odd years there has been a dream. A dream of going it alone. A dream of being the driver of my own destiny… and now that time has come.
Today I choose life. Every morning when I wake up I can choose joy, happiness, negativity, pain… To feel the freedom that comes from being able to continue to make mistakes and choices – today I choose to feel life, not to deny my humanity but embrace it.

As with others that have made these leaps, the timing is never perfect. There are always things in your life that make these decisions difficult or impossible, but opportunity came a knocking and I flung open the door and gave it a great big hug.
It is hard to completely describe the overwhelming excitement that I feel about all the possibilities that lie ahead. Of course there is fear and self-doubt who are tagging along as unwelcome passengers, but without them there can be no passion and joy.
I am a true believer in the power of digital and have found myself engaging, and often meeting face-to-face, with an ever increasing number of new and interesting people who have provided knowledge, support and a seemingly limitless capacity for kindness because of it.
